A small congregation of believers originally began meeting together to worship in 1973, at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Dallas. After a few years, the congregation moved their worship services to Cochran Methodist Church, Dallas. Our humble beginnings as a group of believers were eventually recognized as an official Mar Thoma congregation by the Episcopal Synod of the Mar Thoma Church in 1976.
Abraham Achen hails from Ranny, Kerala. His home parish is St.Paul’s Mar Thoma Church, Kandenperoor. Achen is from the Cheruthon Family. He has a Bachelors inEconomics, a Bachelors in Education, and a Master of Arts. He completed his Bachelors in Divinity fromthe Mar Thoma Theological Seminary, Kottayam in 1998. Achen went on to take a Masters andDoctorate in Theology from FRRC, Kottayam. Achen had a concentration in Counseling. He had taught atthe Kottayam Seminary for 3 years, some of our member Achens had him as a professor. He served asfaculty at the TMA Institute of Counselling in Kottayam most recently for 3 years and also as faculty atthe Federated Faculty for Research in Religion and Culture, Kottayam. Our Assistant Vicar Blezin Achenwas also a student of Abraham Achen. Abraham Achen served as a teacher, research guide, andcounselor. We are grateful to have an educator and counselor in our midst. Blezin Achen hails from Valakom near Kottarakara, Kerala. His mother parish is St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, Pullamcodu. He is from the Puthukunnathu Family. Achen did his Bachelors in Computer Science and did a Masters in Applied Psychology. Achen completed his Bachelors in divinity in 2008 at Mar Thoma Theological Seminary, Kottayam. Achen went back for his Masters in Theology recently at the Federated Faculty for Research in Religion and Culture, Kottayam from 2016 and completed in 2018. We appreciate his interest in studying the word and also his concentration in counseling as well. Achen’s previous postings were Kattappana Bethel Mar Thoma Church, Palarivattom Sharon Mar Thoma Church (Asst. Vicar) and Thalappady Nazareth Mar Thoma Church. He was served as a general committee member of the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam during 2015-2017. Rev. Brazin K Mon is his brother, now serves as the vicar of the Thenjipallam Bethel Mar Thoma Church, near Calicut.
